FANUC Invests $90M in Michigan Robot Factory, 225 New Jobs

FANUC America just announced a $90 million investment that signals a major shift for American manufacturing.

The robotics giant plans to build an 840,000 square foot facility in Pontiac, Michigan, creating 225 new jobs by late 2027. This massive expansion will allow the company to produce more industrial robots right here in the United States.

"This investment builds on FANUC America's Michigan manufacturing footprint, which has included producing robots for paint application domestically for more than four decades," said Mike Cicco, the company's president and CEO. The new facility will help American manufacturers get the automation tools they need faster and more reliably.

The company isn't just building robots. FANUC is also opening the largest robotics training center in the country later this year in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The new FANUC Academy will address a critical challenge: America needs more skilled workers who can operate and maintain advanced manufacturing equipment. By training the next generation of automation experts, the company is helping ensure American factories can compete globally.

Since 2019, FANUC has invested nearly $300 million in U.S. facilities and created over 700 American jobs. The company now operates 3 million square feet of space across the country.

The Ripple Effect spreads far beyond one company's bottom line. When major manufacturers invest in domestic production, it strengthens entire supply chains and creates opportunities for smaller businesses.

The move comes as companies across industries are embracing automation to stay competitive. FANUC recently partnered with NVIDIA to integrate artificial intelligence into their robots, making them smarter and more adaptable than ever.
