Firefighters' Bonanza Event Raises $2.5M for Charities

When firefighters in Hub City started hosting the Bonanza event years ago, they hoped to make a difference in their community. Today, they're celebrating a milestone that proves just how much people care about helping their neighbors.

The IAFF Local 1605 Foundation has now raised more than $2.5 million through its annual Bonanza event. This year's fundraiser is directing support to 25 local charities and first-responder initiatives that serve the community every day.

Jim Kershner, President of the IAFF Local 1605 Foundation, says the achievement belongs to everyone who participated. "That milestone belongs to the supporters, sponsors and volunteers who have made the Bonanza possible year after year," he explained.

The event has become a true community effort. Supporters continue showing up each year, sponsors provide resources, and volunteers donate their time to make it happen.

Twenty-five organizations receiving funding this year means hundreds, possibly thousands, of local residents will benefit.
