Firefighters Free Senior Cat Franny From Fireplace Trap

A newly adopted senior cat decided to test her family's dedication within hours of moving into her Seal Beach home.

Franny, estimated to be between 9 and 11 years old, squeezed herself into a hole about the size of a brick beneath the family's fireplace on January 31. Her worried new owners tried everything to coax her out, but the curious cat was stuck tight.

The family called the Orange County Fire Authority for help. Engine 44 responded to the home and got to work on the delicate rescue mission.

After several careful attempts, firefighters successfully freed Franny from her tight spot. The senior cat emerged unharmed and is now settling back into her new home.
