Fitness Coach to Flip 100kg Tire for 24 Hours Straight
A fitness instructor plans to flip a 220-pound tire for 24 hours straight to thank his former school and raise £20,000 for a new sports pavilion. James Farmer credits Glyn School in Epsom with launching his successful career training elite athletes and Olympians.
Sometimes gratitude comes in the form of 24 hours of pure grit and a 100-kilogram tire.
James Farmer left Glyn School in Epsom back in 2001, but he never forgot what the school gave him. Now a fitness instructor who has trained elite athletes and Olympians, Farmer is preparing for an extraordinary thank you: flipping a 220-pound tire continuously for 24 hours to raise £20,000 for a new sports pavilion.
"Twenty-four hours of flipping a tire is a hard way to say thank you," Farmer said. "But if it puts a pavilion on those playing fields, it will have been worth every hour."
The challenge happens October 25th, starting at noon and finishing 24 hours later. Farmer will flip the massive tire around a marked course on the school grounds, pushing through the night with independent witnesses documenting every flip.
He's not just aiming to break the current Guinness World Record of 11.21 kilometers set by Daniel Garner in 2020. Farmer wants to crush it, targeting over 15 kilometers of tire flips.

Headteacher Jo Garrod is thrilled about what the challenge represents. "What James is taking on is extraordinary, and the pavilion he is raising money for will be used by our pupils every week for decades," she said. The school community plans to cheer him on throughout the grueling night.
Why This Inspires
Farmer's challenge shows how great teachers and supportive schools create ripples that last decades. He spent more than 20 years building a career in health and fitness, working with some of the world's best athletes, yet he traces his success back to those early opportunities at Glyn.
The new sports pavilion will provide improved facilities for PE classes, sports fixtures, after-school programs, and community use. It's a gift that will touch thousands of young people, potentially inspiring the next generation of athletes and fitness professionals.
Farmer's willingness to push his body to its absolute limit for 24 straight hours demonstrates the profound impact educators can have when they believe in their students.
This isn't just about breaking a world record; it's about paying forward the foundation that made everything else possible.
