Florida Youth Team Wins NFL Flag Championship at 14

The Marion County Juice Bucs brought home a national championship trophy, proving that small-town talent can compete on the biggest stage.

The 14U team from Ocala squared off against teams from across the country at the NFL Flag Championships. Their journey started with a heart-stopping semifinal against the Giants that came down to the final 14 seconds.

Drake Eason set the tone early with a one-handed interception he returned for a touchdown. But the Giants fought back, and with under 15 seconds left, Ocala trailed by a point.

Eason found teammate Kingstyn Henderson for a go-ahead score with the clock ticking down. When the Giants launched a desperation pass, Dzyreron Simpkins intercepted it in the end zone to seal the 19-18 win.

The championship game against a New York City team showcased everything the Bucs had built all season. Eason connected with Henderson for another touchdown as Ocala jumped to a 21-7 lead.

The defense joined the scoring party when Ashton Garnes grabbed an interception and took it back for six points. Eason added his own pick-six, giving him defensive touchdowns in back-to-back games.

Here's the plot twist: Eason wasn't even scheduled to start at quarterback when the tournament began. He stepped up when his team needed him and finished the championship game with 168 passing yards and three touchdowns.
