Fonterra Hits 200 EVs, Leading New Zealand's Green Fleet

Fonterra celebrated a groundbreaking milestone last month when it added its 200th electric vehicle to its fleet, proving that large companies can successfully transition away from fossil fuels. The dairy giant's achievement marks one of the largest corporate EV fleets in New Zealand.

Kia delivered the milestone vehicle, an EV5 Earth AWD, at a celebration event at Waikato Kia. While Fonterra's electric fleet includes multiple brands, the 200th vehicle happened to come from Kia's lineup.

"The fact this is Fonterra's 200th electric vehicle demonstrates that EVs are a viable proposition for large-scale fleet requirements," says Justin Benzie, Kia's National Sales Manager. The company reports no compromises when it comes to performance, operational efficiency, or reliability.

The celebration also featured the New Zealand debut of Kia's new PV5 electric cargo van, designed specifically for business use. The fully electric van offers flexible interior configurations that can carry cargo, passengers, or be adapted for specialized applications.

The PV5 has already won International Van of the Year and will go on sale locally in late Q2. Its arrival gives New Zealand businesses more options as they transition their commercial fleets to electric power.
