Framingham Teacher Wins National Science Education Award

A Framingham High School science teacher just joined an elite group of educators recognized for transforming how students experience science.

Rebecca Maynard received the Robert E. Yager Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award from the National Science Teaching Association, one of only six teachers nationwide to earn this honor in 2026. The NSTA celebrated award winners on April 17 at their national conference in Anaheim, California.

Maynard's approach goes beyond textbooks. In 2024, she spent a week on Alaska's south coast witnessing firsthand how climate change affects animal habitats and ecosystems. The following year, she earned a grant to participate in an educational expedition to Kenya, bringing those real-world experiences back to her students.
