Free Day Retreat Helps Cancer Survivors Heal in Moline

Finishing cancer treatment should feel like victory, but for many survivors, it's when the real questions begin.

Cancer Support Community Iowa and NW Illinois at Gilda's Club is offering a lifeline. On September 18, they're hosting a free full-day retreat in Moline for cancer survivors who've completed treatment within the last 24 months or are managing cancer as a chronic disease.

The Cancer Transitions program runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gilda's Club Moline on John Deere Road. It's designed for that tricky phase when active treatment ends but the journey continues.

The day includes sessions on getting back to wellness, managing emotional health, nutrition, staying active, and taking charge of medical care beyond cancer. Breakfast, lunch, and an exercise session come with registration.

Since Cancer Transitions launched, participants have reported real improvements. Nearly half say they worry less about cancer's negative impacts on their lives. More than half increased their physical activity after completing the program.
