Gabon Opens Digital Academy to Train Citizens in Tech

Gabon is betting big on digital skills, and thousands of citizens are about to benefit from a brand new national tech academy.

The country signed a five-year agreement with Smart Africa at Mobile World Congress Barcelona this week to launch the Smart Africa Digital Academy. The academy will operate from Gabon's Innovation Centre and aims to train both everyday citizens and public officials in essential digital skills.

The program offers free capacity-building workshops, online learning platforms, and hands-on training in emerging technologies. Partnerships with international donors and service providers will help fund and support the courses, making them accessible to people across economic backgrounds.

Gabon's Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization, and Innovation is leading the charge. The country recognizes that digital literacy isn't just a nice-to-have anymore. It's essential for participating in the modern economy, accessing government services, and building tech-driven businesses.

The Ripple Effect

This academy could transform how Gabonese citizens interact with technology in their daily lives.
