Gateway Casinos Donates $1.4M to Canadian Charities

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment has turned generosity into company culture, and the numbers prove it works.

Through their GatewayGIVES program, the casino operator donated $1.4 million to more than 1,000 organizations across Canada in 2025. Their team members didn't just write checks either. They rolled up their sleeves and volunteered nearly 2,000 hours to causes they care about.

The donations went toward heartwarming projects that changed lives. Gateway raised over $18,000 for Make-A-Wish's Women for Wishes campaign, helping grant wishes to children facing critical illnesses. They partnered with Variety Alberta to build adaptive ride-on toy cars for kids with disabilities.

Community drives collected thousands of shoes, coats, toys, and food items for families in need. Employees helped choose which causes to support, creating genuine connections between the company and the communities where they live and work.

"Our team members are deeply connected to the communities where we live and work, and this achievement demonstrates what's possible when people come together with a shared purpose," said Rachel Leier, Senior Vice President of People and Communications.

The Ripple Effect

This $1.4 million milestone represents just one year of giving. Since launching GatewayGIVES in 2015, the company has donated over $10 million to organizations nationwide.

That decade of consistent generosity has created lasting change in communities from coast to coast. Each donation, volunteer hour, and collected item represents someone getting help when they needed it most.

The program shows how corporate giving works best when employees lead the way. By letting team members choose causes that matter to them, Gateway created a movement where giving back feels personal, not performative.
