GCU Women's Tennis Sweeps Mountain West First-Rounder 5-0

Grand Canyon University's women's tennis team just made conference tournament history with a performance that left no doubt about their championship potential.

The fifth-seeded Lopes blanked 12th-seeded Fresno State 5-0 on Wednesday morning at Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas. It marked GCU's first win in the Mountain West Championships, a milestone for the program competing in its inaugural season in the conference.

GCU's dominance started early in doubles play. Sophomore Bella Crossman and senior Dania Deaifi took their match 6-3, while junior Gala Arangio and sophomore Karina Hofbauer clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory.

That momentum carried straight into singles competition. Crossman crushed her opponent 6-3, 6-0 at the top court position, setting the tone for her teammates.
