Georgia High School Earns Top AP Honors in 4 Categories

A Georgia high school is proving that zip code doesn't determine academic excellence.

Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville earned recognition from the Georgia Department of Education as an AP Honor School in four categories: AP Humanities, AP Humanities Achievement, AP STEM, and AP STEM Achievement. Only a select group of schools statewide received honors in multiple categories this year.

The achievement reflects both the number of students taking college-level courses and how well they're performing on the rigorous AP exams. TCCHS students are tackling everything from AP Chemistry to AP English, racking up high scores that could earn them college credit before they even graduate.

AP Coordinator Erin White celebrated the recognition as proof of what dedicated teachers and motivated students can accomplish together. "We are confident that TCCHS has the premier AP program in our corner of the state," she said.

The school now offers 30 different AP courses, giving students an impressive range of options to challenge themselves. Students can even earn the prestigious AP Capstone Diploma, which requires completing special research and presentation courses on top of regular AP classes.

The AP Humanities designations recognize the school's strength in English, social studies, world languages, and fine arts courses. The STEM honors highlight excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
