Georgia Solar Firm Creates 2,500 Jobs With $2.5B Expansion
Qcells is investing $2.5 billion to build new solar manufacturing facilities in northwest Georgia, creating 2,500 good-paying jobs by 2024. The expansion will make the company the only fully-integrated solar panel manufacturer in America.
Northwest Georgia is about to become the solar manufacturing capital of America, with 2,500 new jobs coming to communities that need them most.
Qcells, already operating the largest solar panel factory in the Western Hemisphere, just announced plans to more than double its Georgia operations. The renewable energy company will invest $2.5 billion to build a massive new facility in Cartersville and expand its existing Dalton campus.
The expansion means Qcells will employ more than 4,000 Georgians by the end of 2024. That's nearly six times the workforce it had when it first opened in Dalton in 2019.
The new Cartersville plant will be unlike anything currently operating in the United States. It will manufacture every component of a solar panel, from raw silicon to finished product, creating about 2,000 jobs in Bartow County alone.
Meanwhile, the Dalton expansion will add another 510 positions to a facility that already supports 700 workers in Whitfield County. These aren't temporary construction jobs. They're permanent manufacturing careers with competitive wages.

The Ripple Effect
This expansion positions America to reduce its dependence on overseas solar suppliers. Supply chain disruptions caused solar installations to drop 23 percent in 2022, leaving renewable energy projects stalled and costs rising.
By building the nation's only fully-integrated solar supply chain, Qcells is helping secure America's clean energy future. The company's 8.4 gigawatts of annual production capacity will power hundreds of thousands of homes across the country.
Georgia has increased renewable electricity generation by 93 percent since 2009. Solar now provides more than 4 percent of the state's power, and that number keeps climbing as facilities like Qcells expand.
The jobs start soon. Qcells plans to break ground in Cartersville during the first quarter of 2023, with hiring ramping up throughout the year.
Job seekers can find openings by searching "Qcells, Dalton" on Indeed.com or visiting the company's careers page. The company is looking for workers at all skill levels, from entry-level positions to specialized manufacturing roles.
Sometimes the future arrives faster than expected, bringing opportunity to communities ready to seize it.
