Ghana Career Fair Connects Youth to Jobs in September

Thousands of young job seekers in Ghana will soon have face-to-face access to employers, training institutions, and career mentors all in one place.

The Ghanaian-European Centre for Jobs, Migration and Development announced its eighth annual Ghana Career and Migration Fair, set for September 30, 2026, in Takoradi. The event brings together companies actively hiring, vocational training programs, government employment agencies, and career counselors under one roof.

Andreas Berding, who leads the Centre, said previous fairs have successfully connected job seekers with actual employment opportunities. "We want to build on this progress and make an even stronger connection between skills, training and employment," he explained at the launch event.

This year's fair puts special spotlight on technical and vocational training. Berding noted that employers increasingly want candidates with hands-on abilities like digital skills, problem-solving, and adaptability rather than just academic credentials.

The one-day event will offer resume reviews, employer meet-and-greets, career counseling sessions, and panel discussions. Attendees can also learn about migration pathways and scholarship opportunities for those considering working abroad.

Frederick Faidoo, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive, praised the initiative for addressing youth unemployment in his region. He encouraged residents to attend and gather information that could open doors to jobs both in Ghana and internationally.

The Ripple Effect: What makes this fair powerful is its direct approach to solving unemployment. Instead of just posting job listings online, it creates real human connections between young people and the organizations that can hire or train them. Previous editions have linked countless job seekers with actual positions, proving the model works.

The Centre operates as part of a global network of migration and development centers, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Union. It works alongside Ghana's Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment to match the country's workforce with employer needs.
