Ghana Gala Raises Funds for Bibles and Young Women Leaders

Business leaders, clergy, and philanthropists gathered in Ghana's capital to invest in two missions: getting Bibles into more hands and empowering the next generation of women leaders.

Dr. Ellen Hagan hosted the charity gala in Accra to raise funds for the Bible Society of Ghana and the Nsoromma Programme, an initiative helping young women build leadership skills. The event also celebrated her completion as Vice President of the Bible Society, honoring years of faith-based service.

"This evening is not about celebrating one person's journey. It is about multiplying impact," Dr. Hagan told guests. She emphasized that every contribution would help place Scripture in more hands and open doors for young women to lead.

Dr. James Orleans-Lindsay, who chaired the event, called generosity an investment in Ghana's future. He stressed that sustainable national development depends on strengthening both spiritual formation and leadership development.

The evening featured worship sessions and performances by Harmonious Chorale, Dr. Michelle McKinney Hammond, and Barry & Rabby. A documentary and charity appeal highlighted the work of both organizations, inspiring guests to contribute to their missions.

The Ripple Effect

For nearly 60 years, the Bible Society of Ghana has translated, published, and distributed Bibles while promoting literacy programs. The organization reaches schools, prisons, hospitals, and underserved communities across the country, ensuring access to Scripture for all Ghanaians.

The Ellen Hagan Nsoromma Programme launched just two years ago but has already made waves. The initiative equips young women through three pillars: faith, relationships, and career development. Participants build confidence, strengthen their support systems, and maximize their leadership potential.

The program focuses on helping young women pursue excellence and integrity in their professions, churches, and communities. Since its launch, it has supported participants in becoming the leaders their continent needs.

Funds raised will continue both organizations' work across Ghana. The Bible Society will expand translation projects and literacy programs, while the Nsoromma Programme will reach more young women seeking to develop their leadership skills.

The event concluded with prayers of thanksgiving and a commissioning ceremony, as guests reaffirmed their commitment to faith, leadership development, and empowering future generations.
