Ghana MP Pledges Full Support for Wheelchair-Bound Student
A determined student wrote Ghana's national exams from his wheelchair, catching the attention of a local leader who promised to remove every barrier to his success. Over 3,000 students completed their exams peacefully in Bekwai.
Master Kingsley Owusu Baffoe didn't let his wheelchair stop him from taking Ghana's Basic Education Certificate Examination this May, and now he won't face the future alone.
Ralph Poku-Adusei, Member of Parliament for Bekwai, met Kingsley after his final exam on May 8, 2026, and made a clear promise. If Kingsley succeeds, his physical condition won't become a barrier to continuing his education.
"Education must be inclusive," Poku-Adusei told students at three examination centers in the constituency. "Master Kingsley's determination is a lesson to us all."
The MP visited candidates at Abbot, Ofoase Kokoben, and Anwiankwanta centers before and after their final paper, congratulating all 3,027 students who completed the exams. This year's examination was unusually peaceful, with no incidents reported across any testing site.

Poku-Adusei encouraged the entire 2026 cohort to approach their results with confidence. "Your hard work and discipline throughout your preparation should give you every reason to expect success," he said.
The Ripple Effect
The MP's commitment to Kingsley reflects a broader push to expand educational support across Bekwai. His School Starter Pack Scholarship Scheme helps students transition from junior high to senior high school, with plans to reach even more students in 2026.
Mrs. Leticia Obeng, Municipal Director of Education, reported significant improvement in school retention this year. She credited teachers, parents, and community leaders for creating conditions where students could focus entirely on their exams.
The peaceful examination environment and Kingsley's participation show how communities thrive when everyone gets a fair shot at learning. When one student's wheelchair doesn't hold them back, it opens doors for others facing their own challenges.
Bekwai's 3,027 exam candidates now await their results, knowing their community is invested in seeing them succeed.
