Ghana Rescues 73 Trafficking Victims in Major Operation

Seventy-three people held captive by internet fraud gangs are finally free after Ghana's Immigration Service raided six houses in Accra's Devtraco Estate. The victims, who suffered severe abuse and torture, have been safely returned to Nigeria.

The intelligence-led operation arrested 93 Nigerian nationals allegedly running sophisticated fraud operations from residential homes. Led by Deputy Superintendent Newman Akuffo, the team discovered a disturbing setup where victims were forced to participate in criminal schemes against their will.

Inside the houses, officers found the tools of deception: counterfeit US dollars, fake gold bars, 82 laptops, 57 mobile phones, and 17 television sets. These items painted a picture of large-scale operations designed to scam unsuspecting victims across borders.

The investigation revealed that many suspects had entered Ghana illegally through unapproved routes. Others had overstayed their 90-day visa-free entry period, using legitimate entry as cover for criminal activity.
