Golfer Justin Biwer Sinks 30-Footer to Win First Pro Title

Standing on the 18th tee with everything to lose, Justin Biwer had just watched his comfortable lead completely evaporate after a string of double bogeys that left him tied for first place.

The 23-year-old from San Diego had dominated the CRMC Championship in Brainerd, Minnesota, for three rounds. But on Sunday, golf's cruel tendency to humble even the best players had struck again, turning his five-shot advantage into a nail-biting finish.

After making double bogey on the 13th hole and bogey on the 16th, Biwer found himself deadlocked at 20-under with Bryan Lee, who had already posted his scorecard with a final-round 65. The tournament that seemed wrapped up suddenly hung in the balance.

"It was funny, with all the doubles that I've made, it almost feels like it kind of brought me back to reality and calmed me down," Biwer said. Rather than panic, he settled himself with a simple reminder: there were still holes left to play.

On the par-5 17th, Biwer rolled in a 15-foot birdie putt to edge ahead by one. Then came the 108-yard par-3 finishing hole, where he needed just two putts to secure victory.

Instead, Biwer did something better. His 30-foot birdie putt found the bottom of the cup, giving him his 34th birdie of the week and a two-shot victory that marked his first professional win in just his 12th start as a pro.

The win carries enormous significance beyond the trophy. Biwer jumped to sixth place on the PGA TOUR Americas Points List, putting him squarely in position to earn a Korn Ferry Tour card for 2027 if he finishes in the top 10 after three remaining events.

"I feel like I really proved something to myself today, just all the work that I've been putting in," Biwer said, his voice reflecting the relief and pride of someone who had just passed a major test under pressure.

After a week off, PGA TOUR Americas heads to Victoria, British Columbia, where Biwer will look to build on his breakthrough moment and secure his path to the next level of professional golf.
