Guernsey Team Wins €10K for Motor Neurone Charity
A fitness team from Guernsey placed third in a global company challenge and donated their €10,000 prize to a local charity supporting families affected by motor neurone disease. Half the office participated, turning everyday activities into life-changing support for their community.
When five colleagues from Rothschild & Co in Guernsey decided to join their company's global fitness challenge, they had one goal in mind: winning money for Guernsey Motor Neurone, a charity supporting islanders living with MND.
The Guernsey Conquerors competed against teams worldwide in The Human Race, a three-week challenge where everyday activities like walking, cycling, and yoga earned points on a leaderboard. Their dedication paid off with a third-place finish and a €10,000 donation for their chosen charity.
Henry Henke, team captain, said keeping the charity at the heart of their effort drove them forward. "This was a true team effort," he explained. "We supported and encouraged each other every step of the way."
The win holds special meaning for the office. Jo Luff, whose husband Richard works at Rothschild & Co Guernsey, is living with motor neurone disease. The entire team knew their efforts would directly impact someone in their work family and others facing the same battle.

Half of the 60-person Guernsey office participated, forming six five-person teams. The challenge, created to celebrate the Rothschild & Co Foundation's fifth anniversary, encouraged movement, teamwork, and giving back across the global company.
The Ripple Effect
Motor neurone disease affects not just individuals but entire families and communities. Guernsey Motor Neurone provides vital support to help people live more comfortably with this devastating condition.
Susie Hunt from the charity called the donation incredible. "MND is a very cruel disease," she said. "This incredible donation will make a huge difference to what our charity is able to do to make life a little more comfortable for those living with it."
The team of Henry Henke, Rachel Bailey, Amar Batth, Emma Cabrelli, and Charlie Locke proved that consistency and heart can turn simple daily movement into meaningful change. Hunt thanked them with words that captured the spirit of their achievement: "You are all angels."
Sometimes the best victories happen when competition serves something greater than winning.
