HARIBO Switches to Electric Trucks, Cuts 40 Tons of CO2
The iconic gummy bear company is electrifying its delivery fleet across Europe, proving that even candy makers can drive real climate progress. HARIBO's new electric semi trucks will eliminate over 40 tons of CO2 emissions annually while delivering the same sweet treats customers love.
HARIBO, the beloved gummy candy brand that's been making people smile for generations, just made a move that's good for both taste buds and the planet.
The German candy giant partnered with logistics company Recht Logistik to replace diesel delivery trucks with battery-electric Mercedes-Benz semis. The trucks now handle shipments between HARIBO facilities in Grafschaft, Neuss, and Eindhoven, Germany.
Each electric truck can travel up to 370 miles on a single charge, enough to complete daily delivery routes without breaking a sweat. When drivers do need a boost, 400 kW fast chargers get them back on the road quickly.
The numbers tell an impressive story. Every 100 kilometers traveled in an electric truck eliminates 37 kilograms of carbon dioxide compared to diesel. Over a typical 250-day work year, that adds up to more than 40 metric tons of CO2 kept out of the atmosphere per truck.

"The further development of our transport solutions is an important building block in achieving our sustainability goals," explains Stefan Sorce, Managing Director of HARIBO Logistics. The company continues working with experienced partners to find new ways to reduce emissions across its operations.
The Ripple Effect
HARIBO's move signals something bigger than one company's shipping choices. When household brands embrace electric vehicles, they prove the technology works for real-world business needs, not just environmental aspirations.
The shift also means cleaner air for the communities along delivery routes. Electric trucks eliminate tailpipe emissions entirely, reducing harmful pollution in neighborhoods where people live and breathe.
Beyond environmental benefits, electric trucks offer quieter operation and lower maintenance costs. Drivers appreciate the smooth acceleration and reduced noise, making these jobs more attractive to new operators entering the logistics field.
As more companies watch HARIBO's success with electric deliveries, the path becomes clearer for others to follow. When a company known for bringing joy to millions shows that sustainability and business success go hand in hand, it creates momentum that extends far beyond the candy aisle.
