Henderson Celebrates Little League's US Championship Win

The Paseo Verde Little League team from Henderson, Nevada just gave their community something incredible to celebrate after winning the U.S. championship at the Little League World Series.

The team dominated their competition throughout August 2026, finishing with a stunning 12-2 victory over Ohio's Great Lakes Region team on August 29. That win sent them straight to the World Series championship game in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

While they ultimately fell 11-2 to Curaçao in the finals, the team's achievement stands tall. Nevada became the first state to reach back-to-back Little League World Series finals since Georgia accomplished the feat in 2006-07.

Carsynn Meyer made her own piece of history during the championship run. She recorded the first RBI single by a girl in a U.S. championship game and became the first girl on an American team to play in the World Series title game.

The team went 3-1 overall in the tournament, opening with a 5-0 shutout against Washington and following up with a commanding 14-6 win over Iowa. Their only loss came in the championship game, but their journey captured hearts across Nevada and beyond.

This marks Paseo Verde's second appearance at the Little League World Series in three years. Their 2024 team reached the U.S. semifinals before falling to Florida, showing this program knows how to build young champions.

The Ripple Effect

Henderson isn't letting this moment pass quietly. City officials organized a free community celebration scheduled for September 19 at the Lee's Family Forum, running from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The event will feature the players and coaches, along with giveaways and family activities for attendees. City officials are encouraging residents to come out and show their appreciation for these young athletes who represented their hometown on the national stage.

The celebration represents more than just honoring a sports achievement. These young players showed an entire community what dedication, teamwork, and perseverance can accomplish, inspiring the next generation of Little Leaguers across Nevada.
