Hong Kong Climate Summit Grows 1,150% in Six Years

Hong Kong's ReThink HK conference has grown from a modest gathering to a 10,000-person powerhouse in just six years, proving that Asia's business world is hungry for climate solutions that actually work.

The seventh annual event opens September 10-11 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. More than 500 speakers and 350 solution providers will share practical tools to help companies move beyond setting climate goals to achieving them.

The conference completely redesigned its format this year around five focused zones. Each area tackles specific challenges: Cities addresses green building and urban infrastructure. Energy explores renewable power and clean transportation fuels. Impact covers sustainable finance and community action. Innovation showcases AI-driven tools and university startups. Resources presents circular economy solutions for manufacturers.

Nearly one-third of attendees hold board-level or sustainability leadership positions. These aren't people attending conferences to feel good. They're decision-makers with budgets and authority to implement real change across Asia's business landscape.

"The demand for practical, scalable solutions has never been higher," said Chris Brown, founder and CEO of ReThink HK. Companies participating include major names like DHL, MTR, Swire, and CLP, alongside international pavilions from Austria, France, Spain, Japan, and Sweden.

The Ripple Effect

The conference's explosive growth reflects a broader shift happening across Asia's corporate world. Businesses once focused on making climate commitments are now racing to figure out how to deliver on those promises amid tightening regulations.

Real-world applications will be on full display. Volvo Bus will showcase clean transit innovations. Marriott will demonstrate hospitality-scale sustainability management. Jardine Schindler will present its deployment of 55 mega escalators at Hong Kong's Airport Terminal 2, showing how massive infrastructure projects can go green.

The Hong Kong government is backing the effort with three undersecretaries delivering keynote addresses on sustainable development, housing, and green finance. All delegate fees fund local environmental charity projects, ensuring the event creates immediate community impact beyond the conference halls.

The Business Environment Council, partnering for its seventh consecutive year, will host discussions on climate risk assessment and nature-based financing. These smaller workshops let participants dive deep into specific challenges affecting their industries.
