Houston Man Mows Overgrown Bus Stop After Seeing Kids at Risk

When Mark Waters drove past a busy Houston road and saw young children walking through waist-high grass steps away from speeding traffic, he knew he couldn't just keep driving.

The scene was alarming. Women and children were navigating alongside the roadway because the grass was so overgrown. At the bus stop, some kids disappeared completely into the tall grass while cars flew past dangerously close.

Waters couldn't shake what he'd seen. "There's just no way, as a man, I could let that happen," he said.

So he didn't wait for the city to respond or for someone else to take action. Waters went home, grabbed his lawn mower, and returned to clear the grass himself.

He transformed the bus stop from a hazard into a safe waiting area. Parents could see their children. Drivers could see pedestrians. A simple act of mowing grass became a solution to a genuine safety problem.
