Houston Rookie Team Wins First Title in 30 Years

After three decades of waiting, the Houston Astros rookie team finally climbed back to the top with a championship that came down to the final swing.

The Florida Complex League Astros defeated the FCL Rays 4-3 in 10 innings on Monday, winning their first title since 1994. The team dominated all season with a league-best 42-11 record and rode a 13-game winning streak into the championship round.

The title game showcased everything that made this team special. After falling behind 3-1 in the top of the 10th inning, the young Astros refused to quit.

"One of the biggest things I tell the guys is be in the moment right now and figure out what we need to do to win this inning, to win this game, and not get ahead of ourselves," manager Vincent Blue said. "I'm just extremely proud of the players for being open to developing and winning."

Adrian Ardinez led the pitching staff all season with 56 strikeouts and a 5-1 record. Luis De Leon paced the offense with 47 hits during the regular season.
