IEEE Launches Student Publishing Conference on Nov 6

Engineering students across the globe are getting a fast track to becoming published researchers, thanks to a new conference launching next month.

IEEE's honor society is hosting Innovating the Future on November 6, bringing together undergraduate and graduate students to present their original research papers. But this isn't just another academic conference. Every student who submitted an accepted abstract got paired with an experienced mentor to guide them through the entire publishing process.

The timing couldn't be better. As artificial intelligence makes it harder to verify research integrity, teaching students the gold standard of peer-reviewed publishing has become critical. The conference addresses this head-on by walking students through proper research methods from day one.

David Kwabi-Addo, an MIT graduate student researching computational biology, sees the program as a game changer. "The conference offers me a chance to learn how to communicate my research to a broader audience and gain feedback from other student researchers beyond my institution," he says. For him, this could become his first conference publication.

The mentorship model sets this conference apart. Volunteers like Professor Wafa Elmannai from Manhattan University work one-on-one with students, helping them organize technical content, navigate peer reviews, and structure compelling presentations. Students who present will see their work submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, giving their research global visibility. That kind of exposure typically takes years for young researchers to achieve.
