India Startup Solves Electric Vehicle Resale Problem
A new Delhi company created a credit score for EV batteries, solving the biggest barrier to selling used electric vehicles. Their TruEV Score helps buyers, dealers, and lenders price used EVs fairly for the first time.
Electric vehicles are taking off in India, but there's been one big problem holding back the used market: nobody could tell if the battery was still good.
That's changing fast thanks to TrusTerra, a Delhi startup that launched in 2024 with a simple but powerful idea. They created a battery health score that works just like a credit score, giving buyers and sellers a number they can actually trust.
The problem they're solving is huge. While India's EV sales keep climbing, less than 2% of electric vehicles get resold. That's because the battery is the most expensive part of the vehicle, and you can't check its condition just by looking. Sellers lose money to steep depreciation, buyers worry they're getting ripped off, and dealers avoid stocking used EVs altogether.
TrusTerra's TruEV Score changes that equation. The platform analyzes vehicle data and battery diagnostics to produce a single rating that shows battery health, range consistency, and remaining useful life. Once a vehicle has a score, everyone in the chain knows what they're dealing with.
The company built two services around the score. TerraCash gives owners a diagnostic and a cash offer within 24 hours. TerraBid runs an auction marketplace where certified dealers can bid on scored vehicles, with financing and warranties already attached.

Founder Tanvir Singh previously co-founded Mooving, a battery-swapping venture, so he knows the space inside and out. He teamed up with Saurabh Arora, Madhu Reddy, and Chanakya Agarwal, bringing together expertise in mobility, finance, and battery systems.
The Ripple Effect
The impact is already spreading beyond individual buyers and sellers. TrusTerra has partnered with vehicle manufacturers, financial companies, and fleet operators to test the score against their own valuation models. More than 150 dealers have signed up, and the platform has evaluated over 2,000 used EVs worth more than $360,000 in transactions.
In October 2025, the company raised $1 million in pre-seed funding led by Finvolve and India Accelerator. Angel investors included leaders from major players in the EV and clean energy sectors.
The money is going toward expansion beyond Delhi into Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad, plus smaller cities across India. TrusTerra plans to certify 20,000 used electric vehicles across more than 20 cities within 18 months.
What makes this particularly exciting is TrusTerra's vision. They don't want TruEV Score to be just their own tool. They're pushing for it to become an industry standard that everyone uses, the way FICO credit scores work in lending.
When used EVs can change hands as easily as used petrol vehicles, India's electric transition gets a whole lot easier.
