Indian Boxer Jadumani Singh Risks 5kg Jump, Wins Big

Jadumani Singh faced an impossible choice: stay comfortable in his 50kg boxing category or jump five kilograms to compete at the Commonwealth Games where lighter weight classes don't exist.

The 23-year-old from Manipur chose the risk. On Friday evening in Glasgow, he proved it was the right call by defeating Scotland's Aaron Cullen 5-0 in a unanimous decision.

Singh dominated from the opening bell, using his quick footwork to stay just out of reach while landing his signature combination: a left hook followed by a left uppercut. His southpaw style, perfected through a stellar 2025 season, translated beautifully to the heavier weight class.

The lack of seeding at the Commonwealth Games meant Singh faced a tough opponent right away. Cullen, fighting in front of his home crowd, controlled the center of the ring in the second round and landed solid right jabs. But Singh adjusted his stance and kept moving, earning a 10-9 round from all five judges.

By the third round, Cullen needed a knockout to win. Singh played it smart, avoiding heavy shots and preserving his energy for the battles ahead.
