The biggest hiring push is coming from ecommerce giants, logistics companies, quick commerce platforms, organized retail chains, and financial services. These sectors are ramping up staff to handle the surge in shopping and deliveries during the festival months.

Here's what makes this year different: smaller cities are claiming the spotlight. Nearly 45% of all job openings are concentrated in Tier II and Tier III cities like Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, and Coimbatore as organized retail and online shopping reach deeper into India's heartland.

Meanwhile, major metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad face the tightest talent crunch at 30%. Workers in these cities have more choices than ever, with gig work becoming increasingly popular and giving people flexibility to move between opportunities.

The good news extends to paychecks too. Temporary workers in metro areas can expect wages to climb 12-15% higher than last year, while those in smaller cities will see increases of 8-10%.

Companies are looking for people who can wear multiple hats. The most sought-after candidates speak multiple Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Marathi, feel comfortable with digital tools, and excel at customer interactions.

The jobs span retail sales associates, customer support representatives, field sales executives, merchandisers, and manufacturing operators. These roles form the backbone of India's festive commerce engine, ensuring products reach customers quickly and shopping experiences stay smooth.

This seasonal hiring boom means more than temporary paychecks. About one in four seasonal workers will transition into permanent positions after the festivals end, according to the Adecco India report based on feedback from over 100 companies.

That conversion rate transforms festive hiring into a genuine pathway into India's organized workforce for hundreds of thousands of people. What starts as a temporary holiday job becomes career stability and growth opportunities for families across the country.

The trend reflects India's strengthening domestic consumption story even as global business conditions remain uncertain. Companies are investing in customer experience and faster delivery, creating quality jobs that didn't exist a decade ago in many of these markets.
