The process is surprisingly straightforward. The blade sections get shredded and mixed into ready-mix concrete to create 10-foot barriers weighing 3,300 pounds each. The recycled blend produces barriers that are 30 percent lighter than traditional concrete but just as strong.

The economics make perfect sense too. Traditional DOT-certified Jersey barriers cost between $1,200 and $1,500 each. Renewablade sells theirs for just $500, making safety equipment more accessible to construction companies and municipalities.
