Community members receiving support and training through Islamic Development Bank poverty reduction program

Islamic Bank Program Lifts 442,000 Out of Poverty

✨ Faith Restored

A groundbreaking five-year initiative has delivered essential services to nearly half a million people in the world's hardest-to-reach communities. Now the program is doubling down with an even more ambitious second phase.

The Islamic Development Bank just launched the next chapter of a poverty-fighting program that has already changed hundreds of thousands of lives across 34 countries.

Tadamon 2.0, or "Seeds of Solidarity," builds on five years of remarkable success. The original program reached 442,000 people with essential services like clean water, healthcare, and education in communities often overlooked by traditional aid efforts.

Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group, unveiled the expanded initiative at a ceremony attended by United Nations agencies and major nonprofit organizations. The program specifically targets communities affected by conflict and fragility, where more than 32 member countries face ongoing challenges.

The numbers tell a powerful story. During the COVID-19 pandemic alone, Tadamon supported 8,600 children when schools closed and families struggled. More than 245,000 people received emergency food assistance when they needed it most.

But the program did something even smarter than direct aid. It mapped over 5,500 local organizations across the region and trained 728 of them to become stronger, more effective helpers in their own communities. That approach turned short-term relief into long-term change.

Six new partners signed on during the launch, including Qatar Charity, Islamic Relief USA, and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture. Together they mobilized $155 million in additional funding, proving that successful programs attract more support.

The Ripple Effect

The new phase aims even higher. Over the next five years, Tadamon 2.0 will reach 500,000 vulnerable people and improve food security for 16,000 families who currently struggle to feed their children.

The program's secret weapon is the Tadamon Development Academy, which will train 1,500 civil society organizations. These local groups understand their communities better than any outside organization ever could. By strengthening their skills in everything from financial management to program design, the initiative creates a network of homegrown leaders who will keep lifting people up long after the formal program ends.

This approach flips traditional aid on its head by investing in local capacity instead of creating dependency.

When communities build their own solutions with the right support and resources, progress becomes sustainable and dignity stays intact.
