Israeli Mental Health Startups Partner With UK Healthcare

Mental health innovation is crossing borders in a big way as Israeli tech companies join forces with British healthcare to tackle a crisis affecting millions.

Eight Israeli startups specializing in mental healthcare recently traveled to the United Kingdom as part of the Dangoor Health-Tech Academy's second delegation. The companies showcased AI-driven care models designed to improve diagnosis, treatment, and personalized patient support during meetings with UK healthcare organizations, investors, and National Health Service trusts.

The timing couldn't be more critical. Around 20% of adults in the UK currently struggle with mental health conditions, prompting the British government to invest 50 million pounds (roughly 68 million US dollars) in mental health research. The goal is simple: use innovation to transform care and reach more people who need help.

Ronit Applebaum from the UK-Israel Tech Hub at the British Embassy in Tel Aviv led the delegation, which proceeded despite logistical challenges from ongoing regional conflicts. The commitment from both countries shows how seriously they're taking this collaboration.

British Ambassador to Israel Simon Walters celebrated the partnership, noting that both countries are "global leaders in innovation and research, harnessing advanced technologies to improve wellbeing." A reception at the House of Lords in London brought together key stakeholders from both nations.

The Ripple Effect

This partnership represents more than just a business opportunity. It's connecting Israeli innovation with the UK's massive 1.2 trillion dollar tech economy, the largest in Europe and third in the world.

The collaboration between the UK and Israel in healthcare technology has been growing steadily. Earlier this year, the countries launched a genomics innovation partnership, and in 2024, they created a joint 2.4 million dollar fund for tech research projects.

For Israeli startups, the UK market offers world-class infrastructure and clear regulatory pathways. For British patients, it means access to cutting-edge mental health solutions that might otherwise take years to develop domestically.

Keren Shurkin, director of the UK-Israel Tech Hub, emphasized the human impact: "By connecting innovators between our two countries, we are helping to deliver impactful solutions that support mental health and transform care for individuals and communities."
