Israeli Startup Raises $18M for Laser Anti-Drone Defense

Israeli defense technology company Esh-Tech just raised $18 million to bring its DroneLight laser interceptor into full production. The system uses pulsed laser technology to knock hostile drones out of the sky, including coordinated swarms that overwhelm traditional defenses.

The funding round was led by Kinetica Ventures, with support from multiple investors and the Israel Innovation Authority. The capital will help Esh-Tech build a manufacturing facility in Israel, expand its team, and scale operations globally.

Traditional missile-based defenses can cost thousands of dollars per interception, making them impractical when facing swarms of cheap drones. Laser systems offer a far more cost-effective solution, with each shot costing a fraction of conventional weapons.

Esh-Tech recently demonstrated the system at Eurosatory, one of the world's premier defense exhibitions in France, generating significant interest from potential buyers.

"The investment marks a significant milestone as we transition from development to large-scale deployment," said CEO Erez Riahi. The company is now focusing on bringing DroneLight into operational service while expanding into key markets including Europe and the United States.
