Josh Hazlewood Eyes Historic Wins in England and India

After years of injury setbacks, Josh Hazlewood is healthy, hungry, and chasing the wins that have eluded Australian cricket for more than 20 years.

The 35-year-old pace bowler has played 76 Tests for Australia but never won a series in England or India. That's about to change if Hazlewood has his way, with both historic tours coming up in the next 12 months as part of at least 20 Test matches on the schedule.

Australia hasn't won an away Ashes series since 2001 or a series in India since 2004. Every current player on the squad was still years away from Test cricket when those victories happened.

"The big series are obviously England and India," Hazlewood said. "They're real big Test series, all away against tough competition. Hopefully we get the job done."

Hazlewood missed last summer's entire Ashes series due to Achilles tendon and hamstring injuries. Since then, he's roared back to form, helping Royal Challengers Bengaluru win back-to-back IPL titles.

Now he's preparing with the Australian squad in Brisbane ahead of two Tests against Bangladesh next month. The extended training camp has given him something previous preparations couldn't: focused, consecutive days of bowling that replicate actual Test conditions.

"Leading into other Test series, you're playing T20, you're playing one-dayers, you're travelling, so it's tough to fit those bowling sessions in," he explained. "This has been tailor-made for a Test match."

Hazlewood's story isn't just about personal redemption. He's part of a bowling group that includes Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and the sensational Scott Boland, all competing for spots but all rooting for each other's success.

"Every time he's come in, he's done unbelievably well," Hazlewood said of Boland. "I think there are enough opportunities in the next 12 to 18 months for us to play a lot of cricket, hopefully, together."
