Judge Reinstates Tulsa Little League Team's World Series Shot

A team of young baseball players who thought their World Series dreams were over got an unexpected reprieve Monday night. Hours after Little League officials disqualified the Tulsa National Little League 12U team for allegedly having an ineligible player, a Texas judge issued a temporary restraining order reinstating them to Tuesday's championship game.

The timing made the drama even more intense. Little League had declared the team out of the Southwest Region Tournament and told their opponents, Boerne Little League from Texas, to prepare for the championship game against Louisiana instead.

Boerne won that Monday game 4-1 and celebrated on the field, believing they'd just secured every Little League player's dream: a trip to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the World Series. But now they'll need to play one more game against the team that was supposed to be eliminated.

Judge Ryan Luna's decision means Tulsa National will face Boerne Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET in Waco. The winner advances to the Little League World Series.

Little League officials had ruled that Tulsa National had an ineligible player on their roster, though they haven't revealed which player or why. The organization called its decision "final and binding" and said it was necessary "to uphold the integrity of the International Tournament."
