Katie Ledecky: America Is a Nation of Strivers

Katie Ledecky has spent over a decade representing Team USA on the world's biggest stages, and she's learned something beautiful about her country along the way.

The 29-year-old swimming legend holds 14 Olympic medals (nine gold) and 18 individual World Championship golds. That makes her the most decorated female Olympian in history and gives her a unique window into what makes America special.

Ledecky grew up traveling from town to town for swim meets across the country. Those experiences showed her something powerful about American communities.

"What I've seen in so many different communities is that sport in America is at its best when its joy and fun, and yes, its challenges, bring us together," she said.
