Kazakhstan's Largest Ice Cream Maker Goes High-Tech

Kazakhstan's food industry just got a serious upgrade with a partnership that promises better ice cream and new engineering opportunities across Central Asia.

Shin-Line, the largest ice cream manufacturer in Central Asia, signed an agreement with South Korean equipment maker Sungwon Machinery Co. to launch production using advanced Korean technology. The deal came during Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's state visit to South Korea in September 2026.

The two companies will create a new joint venture called Shin-Line Engineering specifically to implement and adapt these cutting-edge technologies. South Korea will provide engineering expertise to modernize manufacturing processes and develop high-value products that compete on the global stage.

"Our goal is to bring Korean expertise to Kazakhstan, build our own engineering capabilities and develop new products that meet high international standards," said Shin-Line Group President Andrey Shin. The Ministry of Agriculture is backing the three-year project with government support.

But the ice cream partnership is just the beginning. Shin-Line also signed a strategic agreement with Korea's Food Industry Cluster Promotion Agency to create a modern food cluster in Kazakhstan modeled after South Korea's Jeonbuk State, home to the successful Foodpolis cluster.

This collaboration represents more than just better desserts. It's about transferring knowledge, building local engineering talent, and raising food production standards across an entire region.

The partnership gives Kazakh workers access to world-class manufacturing expertise while creating skilled engineering jobs. As Shin-Line adopts Korean best practices, other food producers in Central Asia will likely benefit from the raised bar for quality and innovation.
