Kentucky 9-Year-Old Breaks Hopscotch World Record in 48 Seconds
A determined 9-year-old from Bowling Green, Kentucky, just became a Guinness World Record holder by drawing and completing a hopscotch course in under 50 seconds. Daxton Hunter joins his dad and brother in the family record book, proving that persistence and a little family inspiration go a long way.
When your dad and brother both hold world records, you've got some serious motivation to join the club.
Nine-year-old Daxton Hunter from Bowling Green, Kentucky, wasn't about to be left out of his family's growing collection of Guinness World Records titles. His father earned recognition for biking through the most U.S. states, and his brother claimed a record just months ago.
"My dad got one for biking most states. My brother for one just a few months back, so I'm like, 'Oh, well if my whole entire family is going to get one, why can't I get one?'" Daxton told WBKO-TV.
After researching which records he could realistically tackle, Daxton landed on a unique challenge: the fastest time to draw and complete a 10-square hopscotch course. The clock would start when he began drawing and wouldn't stop until he hopped through all the squares.

On record day, Daxton grabbed his chalk and got to work. He drew the 10-square course, carefully numbered each square, then hopped his way through in a total time of 48.27 seconds. That was enough to officially claim the record in the under-16 category.
His mother Amelia wasn't surprised by her son's success. "I knew he could tackle challenges because he likes to do hard things, and once he sets a goal, I know he's going to do it," she said.
Why This Inspires
Daxton's achievement shows what happens when kids see their family members pursuing big dreams. Instead of watching from the sidelines, he asked himself a simple question: why not me? That kind of thinking transforms impossibility into action.
The best part? Daxton didn't chase the easiest record available. He researched, planned, and picked a challenge that required both speed and precision. For a 9-year-old to show that level of strategic thinking and follow-through speaks volumes about the power of a supportive family environment.
Now the Hunter family has three world record holders under one roof, proving that excellence can become a family tradition when everyone cheers each other on.
