Kentucky and North Carolina Face Off for Softball Crown

Kentucky and North Carolina punched their tickets to the Little League Softball World Series title game Saturday with gutsy semifinal wins in Greenville, North Carolina. The championship game airs Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on ABC from Stallings Stadium at Elm Street Park.

Kentucky edged New Jersey 2-1 in a nail-biter that came down to clutch performances under pressure. Evelyn Chelstrom lined a go-ahead single to right field with two outs in the fifth inning, driving home the winning run and sending her team to the finals.

Pitcher Michaela Knight delivered a complete game masterpiece with seven strikeouts while making defensive plays that saved the game. In the fourth inning with the score tied 1-1, she snagged a line drive up the middle to end a New Jersey threat with the go-ahead run just 90 feet away.

North Carolina dominated Florida 4-0 behind pitcher Anna-Lynn Clark's electric 11-strikeout performance. Her 35 strikeouts lead the entire tournament, and she's now recorded three games with at least 11 strikeouts in this World Series alone.

Clark didn't just shine in the circle. She opened the third inning with a single, stole second base, advanced on a wild pitch, and scored on a perfectly executed safety squeeze play that showcased the team's fundamentals and baseball IQ.

Belle Cox and Parker Mortensen added RBI singles to give North Carolina all the run support their ace needed.
