Kentucky Firefighters Save Cow Stranded in Lake

When a cow found herself stranded in a lake near Danville, Kentucky, local firefighters didn't hesitate to jump into action. The Boyle County Fire Department rescued the animal on Sunday morning after receiving the call just before 10 a.m.

Two specialized teams responded to Wells Landing Road: the Water Rescue Team and the Large Animal Rescue Team. Working together, they located the distressed cow bobbing in the water and quickly deployed rescue boats to reach her.

Rescue personnel carefully secured the cow to one of the boats and guided her back to shore. But getting her out of the water was only half the battle.

Once on land, crews faced a new challenge: navigating rocky terrain and a steep embankment. The firefighters worked as a team to help the exhausted animal climb through the rocky area and up the hillside to safety.

Nobody knows how long the cow had been struggling in the water before someone spotted her and called for help. What matters is that when the call came in, trained professionals showed up ready to save a life, no matter how big or hoofed.
