Kenya School Sends 4 Students to National Sports Trials

Four students from Vihiga Friends Boys Senior School are proving that small schools can produce world-class athletes.

Three students were selected for Kenya's Under-16 National Basketball Trials happening this July in Nairobi. They'll compete against the country's best young players for a coveted spot on the national team.

In an even bigger achievement, Grade 10 student Joshua Mogere just left for Durban, South Africa, to represent Kenya at an international Under-16 Rugby Tournament. He's one of the few students from his region to ever receive an international call-up.

Senior Principal Albert Masiolo couldn't hide his pride. "This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to Joshua's hard work, discipline and dedication to the sport," he said, adding that the school is equally proud of the three basketball players earning national recognition.

The Ripple Effect

The success isn't accidental. Vihiga Friends Boys Senior School has invested heavily in co-curricular activities and disciplined training programs, showing other schools that academic excellence and athletic achievement can go hand in hand.

The school's reputation as an emerging center of sporting excellence is spreading. More students are now seeing paths to success beyond the classroom, and the entire community is rallying behind these young athletes.
