The home's bones matter too. The skeleton uses laterite, a local mineral with extremely low heat transmission that absorbs and releases temperature slowly while soaking up moisture. Interior walls feature perforated clay blocks that let air and humidity pass straight through.

The pitched roofs add a final layer of protection. Two layers of local clay tiles sit with a gap between them, slowing heat from direct sunlight before it reaches the living spaces below.
