Kidnapped Herdsman Freed, Suspect Arrested in Nigeria

Yahaya Sulaiman is back home with his family after being abducted at gunpoint last Monday night in Ijebu Jesa, Osun State.

The 9pm attack appeared targeted. Witnesses say the gunmen asked residents for Sulaiman's whereabouts before capturing the Fulani herdsman and demanding 70 million naira in ransom. The community rallied together, though the final ransom amount paid remains undisclosed.

Sulaiman was released Thursday and immediately taken to the hospital for care. By Friday, police had arrested one of the suspected kidnappers.

"They found firearms and ammunition on him," a security source told reporters. The suspect has been transferred to Osun State's capital for further investigation.
