LeBron's Daughter Zhuri Joins First Road Trip After 23 Years

Sometimes the best team bonuses come in the smallest packages.

LeBron James checked off a meaningful first in his legendary basketball career Saturday: taking his 11-year-old daughter Zhuri on a road trip. The Lakers responded with a decisive 129-101 victory over the Golden State Warriors, ending a painful three-game skid.

"Good luck charm right here, 1-0," James said as he walked off the court holding Zhuri's hand.

The trip marked a rare chance for James to blend his two worlds. On Friday, father and daughter played tourist in San Francisco, visiting Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge before grabbing dinner together.

Before tipoff at Chase Center, Zhuri joined pregame warmups, running dribbling drills alongside her dad and even throwing him an alley-oop for a dunk. She later sank a trick shot from the foul line, showing off skills that run in the family.

But don't expect another James in the NBA. Zhuri's chosen volleyball as her sport, and mom Savannah has made it clear that's the plan.

"My wife is done with this basketball stuff," James laughed. "She said that's it. Not another one."

The 39-year-old superstar got surprisingly candid about how fatherhood has changed him over two decades. He admitted missing countless moments with his three kids because of basketball, making opportunities like this road trip especially precious.

"It's definitely softened me up over the last 11 years," James said about being a girl dad to Zhuri, who joins brothers Bronny, 21, and Bryce, 18. "It's a different type of love. It's tough love when it comes to my boys. I yell at them and stuff. It's different. It's a little softness with my daughter."

The Lakers seemed to feed off the positive energy. After three deflating losses, including a blowout to Boston and two missed buzzer-beaters, the team celebrated together at the hotel beforehand, singing "Happy Birthday" to teammate Luka Doncic over a basketball jersey cake.

Zhuri's already asking when the next road trip happens, and teammate Austin Reaves jokingly volunteered Denver as the destination. Given how the Lakers played with her in the building, they might want to seriously consider it.

After 23 years of sacrificing family time for basketball greatness, watching James prioritize these moments shows what really matters when the arena lights dim.
