Silver Lucid Gravity electric SUV on display showcasing luxury EV design

Lucid EV Sales Jump 55% With New SUV Launch

🤯 Mind Blown

California's Lucid Motors delivered nearly 16,000 electric vehicles in 2025, marking a 55% jump from the previous year as its new Gravity SUV hit the roads. The luxury EV maker is now setting its sights on a more affordable model to compete with Tesla's bestsellers.

Lucid Motors just proved that launching the right product at the right time can transform a company's trajectory. The California electric vehicle maker delivered 15,841 vehicles in 2025, a 55% increase that signals growing appetite for luxury EVs beyond Tesla.

The momentum came largely from the Lucid Gravity, an electric SUV that spent its first full year on the market. In the fourth quarter alone, Lucid delivered 5,345 vehicles, up 72% from the same period in 2024.

Behind the delivery numbers, production is ramping up even faster. Lucid manufactured 18,378 vehicles last year, more than doubling 2024's output. Fourth quarter production hit 8,412 units, a 148% jump year over year.

The Gravity SUV became available for order in the US in fall 2024 and reached European markets at the 2025 IAA auto show. While Lucid hasn't broken down sales between the Gravity and its flagship Air sedan, the timing suggests the SUV is driving much of the growth.

The Ripple Effect

Lucid's expansion plans reach beyond just selling more luxury vehicles. The company is developing a mid-size electric car priced around $48,000 to $50,000, putting it in direct competition with Tesla's popular Model Y. That unveiling is planned for summer 2026, with deliveries potentially starting in 2027.

The company is also partnering with tech company Nuro and ride-hailing giant Uber on an ambitious robotaxi project. Uber invested $300 million in Lucid last year to accelerate development of autonomous Gravity SUVs. Road tests are already underway, and Uber plans to add at least 20,000 Lucid robotaxis to its platform over the next six years.

For an EV maker that once struggled to meet production targets, these partnerships and product pipeline expansions show how far Lucid has come. The original 2025 target of 20,000 units may have been missed, but the 104% production increase and steady quarterly improvements paint a picture of a company finding its rhythm.

The shift toward more affordable models could open Lucid's technology to drivers who admire the brand but couldn't justify six-figure price tags. If the mid-size model delivers on its promise, Lucid might finally break through to the mainstream EV market where Tesla has dominated for years.
