Lyft Offers 50% Off Rides to Polls on Election Day

For the sixth year running, Lyft is making sure transportation doesn't keep Americans from the ballot box. The ride-sharing company's Voting Access Program returns this November 3rd with a simple promise: everyone gets affordable access to their polling place.

Anyone in the United States can use the code "VOTE26" to get 50% off their ride to vote, up to $10. The offer works whether you're in downtown Manhattan or rural Alaska.

"We want to make sure that transportation is not a barrier to voting for anyone," says Christine Campigotto, Lyft's senior director of policy impact and operations. The program welcomes all voters, regardless of location or political beliefs.

The numbers show why this matters. Research reveals that voters with access to a car are 30% more likely to cast their ballot. That single statistic highlights how something as simple as a ride can determine whether voices get heard.

Lyft isn't working alone on this. The company has partnered with organizations like the League of Women Voters, National Council on Aging, National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, and Students Learn Students Vote Coalition to reach communities who face the biggest transportation challenges.

Students living far from their registered voting districts can now make the trip. Elderly voters who no longer drive have a reliable option. Veterans experiencing homelessness can access their polling places with dignity. One discount code creates pathways for thousands of people who might otherwise sit out democracy.

The program started in 2014 and has grown steadily, proving that private companies can play a meaningful role in strengthening civic participation. Lyft's approach is refreshingly nonpartisan: make it easier for everyone to vote, period.
