Maine Baseball Team Goes Undefeated to Win State Title

The Hammond Lumber Co. Post 213 Riverhawks wrapped up an undefeated run at the Maine State Junior Legion Baseball Championship, defeating the Trenton Acadians 4-1 in the final game. For these young players from Bangor, the victory was especially sweet after coming so close the year before.

"We came in with our heads on tight, ready to play, played our hardest, and didn't let anybody beat us," said Collin Mehrhoff, the team's third baseman and pitcher who earned Tournament MVP honors. His words capture the determination that carried the Riverhawks through every game without a single loss.

The team embraced a powerful mindset throughout the tournament. They believed the only team that could beat them was themselves, a philosophy that kept them focused and united through the pressure of championship play.

For Mehrhoff, this win opens doors he's been dreaming about. "This is the first time I've ever gotten to travel out-of-state to play baseball, and I think this is definitely something I've wanted to do for a while," he shared after the final out.
