Maine Baseball Team Wins State Title in Winner-Take-All Game

After losing the first game of the championship round, the Greater Southern Maine Riders refused to give up and stormed back to claim the State Senior Legion Baseball Championship with a 7-2 win over the Trenton Acadians.

The Riders started championship day just one win away from the title. But Trenton had other plans, defeating GSM 3-1 in the opener to force a winner-take-all showdown that tested every player's heart.

Trenton struck first when Jackson Barry drove in a run with a second-inning single. The Acadians protected that slim 1-0 lead through four innings, keeping the Riders' bats quiet and their championship hopes hanging by a thread.

Then came the fifth inning explosion that changed everything. The Riders scored five runs in one electric frame, finally breaking through against Trenton's defense.

Parker Soule-Parent delivered the crucial blow with a two-run single to right field. He then scored on a passed ball, and teammate Donovan Harvey followed with a two-run single to left-center that put the game out of reach.

Both teams added runs down the stretch, but the damage was done. The Riders held on for the 7-2 victory and the championship trophy.
