Maine Hospice Gets $16K to Help Families in Need

Families facing the loss of a loved one in Northern Maine just got a lifeline they desperately need. The Aroostook Hospice Foundation received $16,000 in donations to help patients who can't afford end-of-life care at the region's only hospice home.

The Willey Family Foundation contributed $15,000 as part of a five-year commitment to the Aroostook House of Comfort. The Mimi Fund added another $1,000. Both gifts will directly support the Charity Care Patient Assistance Fund.

This fund covers costs for eligible patients receiving care at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. When families face one of life's hardest moments, money shouldn't determine whether they receive compassionate care.

"Support for Charity Care directly impacts patients and families during some of life's most difficult moments," said Abbey Clair of the foundation. The donations help ensure care remains available for everyone in the community, regardless of their ability to pay.

The Aroostook House of Comfort serves patients and families across all of Northern Maine. It's the only inpatient hospice facility in the region, making these charitable contributions even more critical.

Northern Light Home Care & Hospice partners with the Aroostook Hospice Foundation to operate the home. The facility provides specialized end-of-life care in a peaceful, homelike setting.
