When Christopher Hellenthal saw a man in a wheelchair struggling to cross a busy intersection in Jonesboro, Arkansas, he didn't hesitate to help. The fact that he was still wearing a Spider-Man costume from work just made the moment extra special.

Hellenthal, 20, had just finished his shift at Ultimate Air Trampoline Park on a Tuesday morning. The park was celebrating superhero day for the toddlers, and he'd decided to keep wearing the costume while driving around town afterward.

"I noticed that there was this man, and he was in a wheelchair, and he was having a lot of trouble, he wasn't going to make it," Hellenthal told reporters. With adrenaline pumping, he leaped from his vehicle and rushed to help.

He told the man, "Don't worry, I got you," and safely guided him across the intersection before returning to his car. The entire rescue took just moments but left a lasting impact.

Traffic cameras captured the scene, and the Jonesboro Police Department shared the footage on Facebook. They called Hellenthal a "true superhero" for his quick thinking and kindness.

"We were able to spot this little web of kindness on our intersection cameras," police wrote. Police spokesperson Sally Smith said she'd never witnessed anything like it in her seven years with the department.

Hellenthal's manager at the trampoline park wasn't surprised by the good deed. It was "very much like him to do something like that," Packy Magel said, adding that it was also very much like Hellenthal to still be wearing the costume.

For his part, Hellenthal emphasized that the suit wasn't what made him stop. "I would have done it with or without the suit," he said.

A lifelong Spider-Man fan from Lake City, Arkansas, Hellenthal even had the chance to meet Stan Lee, one of the character's co-creators, before his death. Now he's living out the superhero motto himself: with great power comes great responsibility.

Sometimes being a hero is as simple as taking a few seconds to help someone who needs it.
