Manila Water Brings Clean Water to 2,466 Flood Survivors

When floodwaters receded in Montalban, Rizal, nearly 2,500 residents faced a new crisis: no access to clean drinking water.

Manila Water Foundation and Manila Water Company stepped in fast. They delivered 350 units of five-gallon potable water containers to families displaced by recent monsoon flooding in Kasiglahan 1K2 Phase 1 and Pag-asa Village.

The assistance reached 2,466 people across Barangays San Isidro and San Jose. Many had lost their homes and were living in temporary shelters without basic necessities.

But Manila Water didn't stop at bottled water. The company's Marikina Service Area deployed five emergency water tankers to provide backup supply throughout affected neighborhoods. Four additional trucks joined clearing operations, helping local authorities remove debris and restore access to homes.

Mayor Ronnie Evangelista met with Manila Water representatives to accept the aid personally. "In times of disaster, access to clean and safe drinking water is essential," he said, thanking the company for their immediate response.

The Ripple Effect

This delivery represents more than emergency relief. It's part of Manila Water Foundation's Agapay program, which focuses on providing water, sanitation, and hygiene support during emergencies.

Clean water prevents disease outbreaks that often follow flooding. When communities have safe drinking water, families can focus on rebuilding instead of worrying about waterborne illnesses threatening their children.

The foundation works closely with local governments to identify the most vulnerable communities. This partnership approach means help arrives faster and reaches families who need it most.
